Curriculum

Bloomfield Preparatory Department offers a balanced, relevant and broad-based curriculum in six Areas of Learning. Teachers are committed to providing a sound education in a caring and supportive environment in which the pupils can develop their full potential. To further this aim classes are kept small to ensure that each pupil receives the maximum of individual attention. In order to achieve this the school encourages close co-operation with parents.

The Areas of Learning are:

Cross-Curricular Skills:

Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities:

In addition older pupils benefit from French lessons which offer early exposure to a foreign language.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous and a detailed, written report will be issued at the end of each school year. Details of individual levels of attainment in Maths and English are also issued to P4 (end of Key Stage 1) and P7 (end of Key Stage 2) in June.

Individual parent/teacher consultations take place during the Autumn and Spring term for all pupils. In the Autumn term we also report on the outcome or InCAS (Interactive Computerised Assessment System) for P4 - P7 pupils.

We are also happy to meet with parents at any time to discuss their daughter's progress or to assist with parental concern about any aspect of school life.
